Elite Athletes and Artistic Performers Entry Scheme

The University encourages international, national and state representation in sports and artistic performance and recognises the impact that training and participation may have on the ability to achieve admission into undergraduate and graduate coursework degrees.

This entry scheme provides for additional consideration to be given for entry into degrees at the University of Melbourne by elite athletes and artistic performers who:

  • Meet the prerequisites of the course; and
  • Can demonstrate that their training, competition, performance and/or practice commitments have interfered with their previous studies.

Please note:

  • In order to be eligible for the Elite Athletes and Artistic Performers Entry Scheme, athletes and artistic performers must be identified and recognised as an elite athlete or performing artist by one of the organisations listed on the application form
  • This Entry Scheme is only available to domestic students
  • Applicants will not be eligible for the Entry Scheme if their performance activity is associated with the undergraduate course to which they are applying (for example, elite musicians applying for the Bachelor of Music).
  • For more information refer to the University of Melbourne’s Selection and Admission Procedure.

After you apply

Your Elite Athletes and Artistic Performers Entry Scheme application will be considered in conjunction with your VTAC application. The selection committee will give consideration to the circumstances outlined in your application, along with your academic results and any other requirements of the course(s) you have applied for.

The information provided in your Elite Athletes and Artistic Performers Entry Scheme application will be considered and may result in a positive ATAR aggregate adjustment of either 4 or 6 points based upon the assessed impact of the elite activity. Note that undergraduate applicants with a time commitment of 10 hours per week or less and with 5 or fewer days of elite activity related school absence will not normally be considered eligible for additional consideration for entry to an undergraduate degree.

The VTAC website publishes information about how ATAR aggregates relate to ATARs. This information will help you calculate the difference a bonus to your ATAR aggregate may make.

Applicants eligible for the Elite Athletes and Artistic Performers Entry Scheme may be selected from below the course minimum ATAR if the ATAR corresponding to the adjusted aggregate meets the specified minimum ATAR.
