Guaranteed entry for school-leavers to graduate professional entry programs
Students who meet the prerequisite requirements for entry into graduate professional entry degrees will be guaranteed entry to their course of choice^ if they meet the following criteria:
For a Commonwealth supported place in the graduate degree:
- achieve an ENTER (or equivalent) of 99.9 (achieved in the final year of schooling in Australia by 2010);
- commence an undergraduate course at the University of Melbourne following completion of schooling;
- complete the undergraduate degree with a H2A (75%) weighted average;
(graduate selection into Medicine, Dental Science, and Physiotherapy is also subject to satisfactory performance at an interview to demonstrate adequate communication skills).
For a fee place (Australian or international) in the graduate degree*:
- achieve an ENTER (or equivalent) of 99.0 (achieved in the final year of schooling by 2010);
- commence an undergraduate degree at the University of Melbourne following completion of schooling;
- complete the undergraduate degree with a H2A (75%) weighted average;
(graduate selection into Medicine, Dental Science, and Physiotherapy is also subject to satisfactory performance at an interview to demonstrate adequate communication skills).
* Guaranteed places in specific professional entry degrees (including Medicine, Dental Science, Physiotherapy, Optometry, Veterinary Science) will be limited by the number of fee places available in the course in the year of entry.
For the Master of Engineering:
For a Commonwealth supported place:
- achieve an ENTER (or equivalent) of 95.0 (achieved in the final year of schooling in Australia);
- commence an appropriate undergraduate degree at the University of Melbourne following completion of schooling;
- complete the undergraduate course with a H3 (65%) weighted average in the final two years.
For a fee place (Australian or international):
- commence an appropriate undergraduate degree at the University of Melbourne following completion of schooling;
- complete the undergraduate course with a H3 (65%) weighted average in the final two years.

These pathways do not represent the standard entry requirements that the majority of applicants will use to enter a professional entry degree.
Applications by Australian students for a graduate professional entry degree using these pathways will be made in the final year of undergraduate study. It is not necessary to nominate an intention to pursue this pathway before then.
^ Applies to most courses. Where relevant, applicants will still be required to complete specific majors or prerequisite subjects as part of their undergraduate course. In some cases, applicants who have not done so may be able to complete bridging studies or an extended Masters degree.
