The Melbourne Degrees
What's different about studying at Melbourne?
The University of Melbourne is known throughout the world as a leading international university. We have always been at the forefront of tertiary education in Australia. In 2008, we redesigned the courses we offer, cementing our longstanding commitment to leadership and innovation in higher education.
You begin with an undergraduate degree that is usually three years of full-time study. This degree is designed to give you a solid foundation and breadth of knowledge. After this, you can choose to move straight to the workforce or deepen your knowledge with a professional graduate degree or a research degree.
At Melbourne, you will get an education that is aligned with best practice around the world. This means your degree is transferable and internationally recognised, offering you the flexibility to enter a range of careers all over the world.

If you enrol in a New Generation degree, you will complete a major in a specific area and also have the chance to choose subjects from outside your core program. This allows you to develop your interests and open up new opportunities you might never have thought about before.
You will learn from leaders in teaching and research, and gain a qualification that is portable and offers an international perspective. Our courses offer lots of opportunities: concurrent diplomas, internships, study abroad and exchange, volunteer projects and industry projects so you can expand your horizons and enhance your career prospects while you're studying.
Our New Generation degrees are flexible and lay the foundation for you to progress to your chosen career or undertake further study at graduate level. This flexibility means you can focus on your career from day one of your studies, or follow new and exciting career options as they arise throughout your study. You can also choose to study a concurrent diploma alongside your New Generation degree.
