The Graduate Centre

The Graduate Centre is a 24/7 facility available for all graduate students located in an historic building and surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens.  It provides numerous services and facilities for the use of graduate students including meeting rooms, study spaces, social facilities and computer laboratories.

The Graduate Centre is jointly managed by the University of Melbourne Postgraduate Association (UMPA) - an association run for and by graduate students to foster a graduate community, enhance your experience at Melbourne and support the academic and professional development of all graduates. UMPA offer workshops, social events, representation and advice to all graduate students.

In addition to the Graduate Centre, most faculties boast dedicated graduate student facilities such as computer labs and formal and informal areas for study and networking.

Libraries

With 22 libraries, the University of Melbourne holds one of the finest and most significant academic library and archive collections in the southern hemisphere.  There are specialist libraries in areas such as law, medicine and architecture, building and planning. You will have access to 3.5 million books, journals, electronic resources, maps, music scores, audio and video recordings, rare books, archival records and other resources for research. The 22 branches also have space for individual and group study and computer and internet facilities. Library staff provide guidance to the collections and run courses in study skills to help you make the best of the library's resources. The library web site provides 24-hour access to the catalogue, electronic journals, archival images and online booking for skills classes.

Melbourne University Sport

Melbourne University Sport offers a range of outstanding sport and recreation services and facilities, including a strength and fitness gym, 25 metre heated indoor pool, indoor courts, athletics track, hockey field and ski lodge, plus group fitness classes and access to over 40 sports clubs. Students are able to take up flexible membership options or use on a casual basis.

Student Clubs and Societies

The Student Union supports a wide range of student clubs and societies to suit students' sporting, cultural and special interests.

In addition, many faculties also have specific graduate student societies you can get involved in. Membership of a club or society is an excellent way for students to meet new people, expand their interests and take on leadership roles during their study.
