Graduate course guarantees for Chancellor's Scholars

As a Chancellor’s Scholar (please check the eligibility criteria for the Chancellor’s Scholars Program) you’ll begin your bachelors degree with the security of knowing a place is reserved for you in the graduate course of your choice.

  • Domestic students: You’ll receive a guaranteed Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) in the professional entry masters degree of your choice
  • International students: You’ll receive a guaranteed International Fee Place in the professional entry masters degree of your choice

The guarantee is subject to meeting course prerequisites for the graduate degree. No minimum Grade Point Average is required in your undergraduate degree, however you may be required to meet course prerequisites and satisfy other requirements for specific courses, such as an interview.

It is strongly recommended that all commencing students have either studied chemistry equivalent to 25 points of first year university subjects, or complete the Chemistry Bridging Course offered in February each year.

All students who commence their undergraduate degree at Melbourne after the 2016 intake will be required to pass on the first attempt any subject course pre-requisites taken at The University of Melbourne. Students who fail to achieve this, will not be guaranteed entry to the course.
Doctor of Medicine

Applicants eligible for guaranteed entry will not be required to complete the Graduate Australian Medical School Admission Test (GAMSAT).

Applicants interested in studying the Doctor of Medicine (MD) must pass an interview to be eligible for the guaranteed entry pathway. The interview is a threshold process designed to ensure that students who apply for the MD have adequate interpersonal and communication skills to successfully complete the course.

All students who commence their undergraduate degree at Melbourne after the 2016 intake will:

  • need to complete the Multi-Mini Interview as part of the MD application process in the third year of their undergraduate degree; and
  • be required to pass on the first attempt any subject course pre-requisites taken at The University of Melbourne.

Students who fail to achieve this, will not be guaranteed entry to the course.

Master of Nursing Science 
Doctor of OptometryApplicants eligible for guaranteed entry do not need to complete the Graduate Australian Medical School Admission Test (GAMSAT) or complete an interview.

All students who commence their undergraduate degree at Melbourne after the 2016 intake will be required to pass on the first attempt any subject course pre-requisites taken at The University of Melbourne. Students who fail to achieve this, will not be guaranteed entry to the course.
Doctor of PhysiotherapyAll students who commence their undergraduate degree at Melbourne after the 2016 intake will be required to pass on the first attempt any subject course pre-requisites taken at The University of Melbourne.

Students must also demonstrate satisfactory performance at a multi-mini interview to demonstrate adequate communication skills.

Students who fail to achieve the above, will not be guaranteed entry to the course.
Master of Public HealthUndergraduate degree must be in a cognate discipline.
Master of Social WorkUndergraduate degree must be in a cognate discipline. Students must satisfy the work experience and personal statement requirements. Students must also meet other entry requirements, including obtaining a supervisor for the research project.
Master of Speech PathologyUndergraduate degree must be in a cognate discipline.
