"There couldn’t be a better place than Melbourne!"

“I studied Medicine and worked as a general practitioner in a district hospital in my country for four years. I did daily general consultations and ward rounds. I also did some community work with counselling and management of people living with HIV/AIDS.

Given the current public health challenges faced by developing countries I decided to further my education and acquire skills which would permit me to join the current teams in setting up and applying strategic and public health policies. With the University of Melbourne being number one in Australia and for public health, there couldn’t be a better place.

Through knowledge gained from my degree, I will contribute to developing feasible and implementable policies adapted to the health setting of my home country. I would also be able to evaluate ongoing programs and study progression of disease and outcome of controls.

The eight weeks I have been in Melbourne has been an awesome experience and I know it will definitely keep getting better. Australia Awards has foreseen so many difficulties we would have faced as independent international students and intervened very timely where there is a need, leaving us with no option than to feel at home."

"I chose MSLE because of its worldwide ranking and recognition."

"I became interested in Master of Agribusiness through studying agriculture as a subject at secondary school and after ranking first in my country in a subject at the Cambridge School Certificate.

I find my lecturers to be highly helpful and excellent. The support services on campus have facilitated administrative procedures and provided me with advice when needed.

My favourite subjects are managing Innovation and entrepreneurship, business strategy, financial management and managing risks. I enjoy these subjects because they are relevant to my job tasks and responsibilities, and they will help me with assisting forthcoming projects at higher levels in my future career.

The highlight of my Melbourne experience so far has been enriching and upgrading my skills, knowledge and overall competence in the studied areas.

I was awarded the Australian Development Scholarship. It’s given me the opportunity to obtain funding for my studies, which otherwise would be too expensive. Also, it provides me the opportunity to study in a large country where the agribusiness sector is well established. When I won my scholarship I felt that I deserved it, because of my long working experience. It is an opportunity to prove myself to others and show them what I can do.

After graduation, I hope to develop the Business Development Unit at my home institution, assist in government agricultural projects, pursue further studies in the agribusiness fields and establish my own enterprise."
