"I wanted to experience what it is like to live in one of the most livable cities in the world."

"I decided to study at the University of Melbourne mainly because of the expertise the School of Botany offers in marine algae, both micro and macro. I also decided to come to Melbourne because I wanted to experience what it is like to live in one of the most livable cities in the world.

After finishing my degree, I see myself as an evolutionary biologist and expect to continue my studies in the form of a PhD at some stage."

"The University provided me with all the support I needed to improve my skills."

“At first it was hard to adjust to the academic system in Australia and I was also not very confident about my English grammar. However, the University provided me with all the support I needed to improve my skills.” The AusAID recipient is convinced that she wouldn’t have been able to come to Australia without the Award.

The scholarship has not only given me the opportunity to continue my studies, it has also enabled me to meet many interesting people, inspiring scientists and educators. After finishing the course I hope to advance my academic career path in the medical sciences and apply my expertise to improve our community’s health”

"The course offers a multidisciplinary approach, which allows students to explore potential majors that they are most interested in."

"My favourite part of the program is the fact that the course offers a multidisciplinary approach, which allows students to explore potential majors that they are most interested in. This provides students with a sense of the different aspects involved in the built and natural environments, before making a decision which field they wish to specialise in."

"Challenging projects have developed my critical and creative thinking."

“The course itself is very interesting, but the professors bring invaluable insights to the lectures and make the concepts and theories relatable and relevant. The diverse mix of cultures, experiences, and work backgrounds in the classroom makes the discussions very rich and broadens perspectives.

With all the group works we have, I have definitely learned about teamwork and conflict management. Class presentations have also honed my communication and presentation skills and built my confidence to speak in front of a large audience. Challenging projects have developed my critical and creative thinking.”
