As a Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholar, you can take part in an exciting program of events and activities focused on expanding your academic and personal horizons.
As well as the events listed at our Parkville campus, there are also events for Young Scholars and their parents/guardians in regional Victoria, and other special opportunities to engage at University events.
Our fun and inspiring Welcome Event gives you the chance to learn more about being a Young Scholar, make new friends and get to know the University of Melbourne’s beautiful Parkville campus.
Attend on-campus events designed to build your leadership, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
VCE Revision Lectures
VCE revision lectures will help you consolidate your learning prior to your VCE exams. They’re facilitated by leading teachers and past assessors, and will give you a boost heading into exams.
Participate in an interactive and entertaining workshop and explore your career options, while developing your skills in leadership, decision making and teambuilding.
Open Day Lounge
Meet University of Melbourne staff and current students, and other high achieving students at our exclusive High Achievers Lounge.
Enjoy this special evening with your parents or guardians, your fellow Young Scholars and University staff to celebrate the end of Year 12 and to commemorate your involvement in the program.

A guaranteed place at Melbourne
If you are an eligible domestic Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholar, you’re guaranteed a place in Arts, Biomedicine*, Commerce, Design or Science at the University of Melbourne in the year following Year 12* if you:
- Achieve an ATAR or notional ATAR of 95.00 (90.00 if your school is considered an under-represented school in the year of application)
- Meet all course prerequisites
Scholarship to study overseas
You will be eligible to receive a Melbourne Global Scholars Award up to the value of $2500 to study at one of 180+ partner institutions in 39 countries across the world on exchange or in an approved study abroad program.
Access to the largest library collection in the southern hemisphere
Got a tricky question that can’t be answered by your textbook? How would access to more than 3.5 million books and other reference items help? The University of Melbourne library network includes specialist libraries in law, business, chemistry, physics, architecture, biomedicine and fine arts and music as well as useful online resources accessible on campus.
Eligible Young Scholars from regional Victoria and interstate enrolling in a University of Melbourne undergraduate degree in the year following Year 12 can receive a $2500 relocation allowance to assist with the costs of settling in Melbourne.More information and eligibility criteria
