Visit from the High Commissioner to Pakistan
Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan, H.E. Margaret Adamson met with 21 Australia Awards Scholars at The University of Melbourne on 31 March. They were joined by Australia Award alumnus, Mr Tariq Qureshi, who was returning to the University of Melbourne for the first time since completing his Masters in Criminology in 2006. Mr Qureshi is currently serving as a senior officer in the Punjab Government.
The event was an opportunity for students to meet with the High Commissioner, who had farewelled them from Pakistan before they commenced their scholarships. Students also heard from Mr Qureshi on his experience of studying in Australia and how he has used this experience to progress his career in Pakistan and contribute to Pakistan’s development.
There are currently 61 Pakistanis studying in Australia on an Australia Awards scholarship, and an estimated 16,000 Pakistani enrolments in Australian universities. The University of Melbourne is proud to have so many outstanding Pakistani students studying with us through the Australia Awards program.
